Just last week she told me that she didn't want to see me for a week... I needed to go away she said. She is constantly pointing out the fact that I need to treat her the way that I want to be treated. Which is a great rule, the golden rule even, but it doesn't always apply to the mother-daughter relationship. Reminding her of this doesn't calm her nerves. According to her, I shouldn't be putting her in timeout, spanking her, taking toys away or yelling at her... because "that doesn't work".
She's probably right about the yelling, but something is working and there's even evidence. In the car the other day, she was bickering with her brother, hit him and told him that she didn't like him, so when we got home she was sent to a timeout in her room. When it was over, she walked out producing this document which she had me read to Sanjay.

Translation: I am so sorry that I said I don't like you Sanjay. I love you Sanjay. From Priya.
He had already forgotten what happened and she was forgiven in his eyes, but this prompted him to say, "I love you too, Priya (now come upstairs and play with me)". He didn't actually say that last part, but I know he was thinking it.

I wonder who she gets the moodiness from ...I mean you were never moody...like ever. LOL.
of course you are doing a great job!!! the proof is in the puddin! I think it is great that Priya is comfortable enough to express her feelings with you. That in itself is a wonderful thing. :)
*LOOKS AT COMMENT #1* Yikes......... *dan>rund and hides*
Thanks for the story sandy sounds like she does like to try and test you.
It is SO REFRESHING to know that my daughter isn't the only going through the (what I call affectionatly) "B....." stage.
Don't our girls know they are supposed to come with a manual to navigate this time? smile
Hang in there. You are a great mom and that note is evidence of it!
